Several videos of the 8pm incident made their way online, where they went viral on social media.

RapidKL bus 221, scheduled to travel between the Keramat LRT station to Ampang Point, went rogue along busy Jalan Ampang, one of the main arteries to and from the city center. Weaving in between vehicles, the bus finally came to a halt at the intersection of the entrance to the MMR2 motorway.

After coming to a halt on the perpetually congested road, the driver attempts to flee the scene, only to be stopped by several citizens.

On the ground witnesses have also provided their own account of the action, though these reports have yet to be corroborated by investigators.

One Facebook user has alleged that before the car gave chase, it had knocked into a car, burger stand, woman and baby at Keramat, and that prompted him to panic and flee the scene. He was then chased by another witness via motorbike, who was able to record a large portion of the situation using his mobile phone.

No motive has yet been as to what prompted the reckless driving, resulting in the driver damaging several cars that sat stationary in traffic

RapidKL has commented via their social media account confirming the incident, and the they were still investigating the case. New Strait Times is reporting that the firm are asking victims to contact their helpline so that they can receive compensation for damage.

Authorities have stated that the driver and victims are receiving medical treatment.

Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported. We’ll keep you posted. Stay safe out there.
