The ERL service management said via its Twitter account @KLIAekspres, that ‘due to the unusually violent storm, some trees fell on the tracks, damaging the power line.’

It said that services would resume tomorrow. In the meantime, the company tweeted that it would provide train shuttle service between Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) and Putrajaya stations.

The Star Online reports that the LRT’s Ampang Line between the Bandar Tasik Selatan and Sri Petaling stations had experienced delays.

RapidKL said in a statement that three LRT sub-stations – each at Sungai Besi, Bukit Jalil and Bandar Tasik Selatan, were affected.

“While services between Cheras and Sri Petaling stopped from 6.24pm, train services continued with longer waiting period between Awan Besar and Bandar Puteri,”Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd CEO, Ahmad Nizam Mohamed Amin said in the statement posted on Twitter.

An operations team was dispatched to evacuate stranded passengers onboard the train near the Bukit Jalil station.

All 220 passengers were safely evacuated by 8.15pm. Rapid KL buses were also dispatched to ferry passengers from the affected LRT stations, it said.

However, the movements of the buses were disrupted due to heavy traffic caused by fallen trees.

Normal service resumed at 9pm.
