Popular actress denies back-tax allegations, asks media to check itself before it wrecks itself

There are two certainties in life: Death, and taxes. The latter seems to have crept up on popular actress Diana Danielle, who was slapped with a hefty RM350,000 (US$85,000) bill from Malaysia’s Inland Revenue Board (IRB) this year, according to a Malay-language daily.

Harian Metro added that the initial amount was corrected to RM150,000 (US$36,000) owed by IRB.

Hello MalayMail. First off, u never interviewed me, secondly your understanding is far off. Salahnya info korang. I DAH BAYAR TAXES, my case is DONE, yang saya tunggu adalah refund saya balik kerana dah SETAHUN tunggu belum dapat lagi, my taxes tak sampai seratus ribu tapi I dah bayar lebih sebab every time I needed to exit the country they will ask for 50k, 70k sekali masuk & keluar, so it added up to 100k++, so sambil I tunggu dapat balik my money, tup tup, I kena blacklisted! My tax agent yg selalu berhubungan dgn diorg for me pun terkejut sbb to our understanding we have no outstanding yg sampai perlu diblacklist, and as far as I know, there is no warning letter or email received… I dah hantar letter on Monday asking why, sampai harini I masih tak dapat reason for this. Persoalannya, kenapa lama sangat nak refund tapi cepat sgt nak blacklist sampai kita semua terkejut and tak faham kenapa. Mana “budi bicara” yg sinonim dgn mereka? That is MY issue yg I bangkitkan. Now pls correct your article. . Kalau anda org biasa mcm saya, yg tak tahu nak buat offshore account, tak ada emas bawah peti ais, dan tak ada accountants mahal2 yg boleh lesapkan pendapatan, mana mungkin I boleh lari taxes. I bayar dan we have our tax agent to take care of our account. So macam mana saya tak pelik bila nak melangkah keluar ke singapore, abg imigresen tu malu2 nak cakap “um cik, cik nampaknya ada blacklisted dari LHDN 2 minggu lepas”. AIK! Terkejut tak kalau kat pintu negara org tiba2 dihulur news secantik itu? Malu eh, nak berbalas dgn en immigresen sedangkan kita pun memang tak tahu! Saya agak terkilan dan terus minta ibu saya hubungi my tax agent yang langsung terkejut jua AIK! Bila masa kita ada outstanding lagi, so sampai skrg I still tak tahu walau dah hantar surat untuk mengetahui status saya. Sekian.

Having taken to her Instagram account to air her grievances, she took issue with another local paper’s coverage of the story, writing that her issue laid in the fact that her taxes were now up to date, and yet she remained on a travel blacklist.

In recent years, Malaysia’s inland revenue has begun blocking individuals with unresolved tax issues from leaving the country.

Diana continues that she has always paid taxes, and worked with a credible tax agent to ensure she complied with inland revenue. She added that she is currently waiting for a refund from the tax office having overpaid in settling her bill, and that both she and her accountant were surprised at the blacklisting.

Having had no idea that she was on any travel-ban list, she recently found out the hard way when she tried to board a Japan-bound flight for work and was unable to travel.

Exasperated, her most recent Instagram post on the issue asked why was it that the tax office was so quick to blacklist her, but are taking their sweet time in issuing her refund.

Fair enough, girl: Get that paper that’s owed to you.

Diane is the wife of popular actor Farid Kamil, who found himself in hot water with the authorities last year after he was accused to slapping a police officer while in a police station.

Friendly reminder, Coconauts: Taxes are due April 30. Inland revenue don’t play play, so file that sh*t before you face the indignity of being stopped on your travels out of the country.
