A 23-year-old Polish woman was killed after she was run over by a City Liner bus on Wednesday.
According to a report by theSun, the incident happened at around 1pm when the victim, identified as Daiana Helena, was trying to cross the Jalan Tan Cheng Lock and Wisma Megah intersection.
Kuala Lumpur traffic police head of investigations DSP Shafie Daud told the daily that the bus was switching from the left lane to the right when Daiana was crossing the three-laned road.
She was reportedly hit by the bus on the left lane.
A video shot by a passer-by — which went viral on social media — showed the victim trapped under the bus and barely conscious. Passers-by were also seen trying to free her from underneath the bus.
Shafie told the daily that she was then rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, but she was pronounced dead at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital at 1.40pm due to severe head injuries.
He added that bus driver has lodged a police report and the Polish embassy has been notified of the accident.
“The bus was sent to Puspakom for inspection,” Shafie was quoted as saying.
