A 31-year-old man is in police detention after a failed suicide bid from the upper floors of Johor’s Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex yesterday afternoon.
Fire and Rescue officials were called to the scene at 3:15pm, after the man, who works as a private rental car driver, was spotted on the fourth floor of the building, threatening to jump.
Originally from Kluang, he told authorities that financial concerns were behind the bid to take his own life, as well as recent heartbreak. He also took syabu before the events unfolded, perhaps altering his state of mind.
After calls were made to authorities regarding the matter, a team of Fire and Rescue officials were able to talk the man down by 5:05pm, later keeping him in remand to investigate two possible charges – one for suicide, and another for trespassing.
Let’s hope that he also receives the counceling that he clearly needs.
