Investigators in Penang have finally begun to lodge police reports against JJPTR, the Malaysia based scheme that promised investors 20% returns monthly, only to claim last month that funds had been lost in a “hack”. The report alleges the firm stole RM1.7 billion from victims. This will allow police to assemble a team that includes officers from Bukit Aman, Bank Negara and the Companies Commission, as well as other agencies, to track down what happened to the missing funds.

Founder Johnson Lee is not one to let the bad news spoil his appetite. The company dinner is still on for this Saturday in Kuala Lumpur, with Lee expected to attend.

Last week their Penang offices were raided, and 19 JJPTR employees and investors were detained and their statements taken. As of yet, Lee has not been taken in for questioning. Police are urging members of the public to lodge their own police reports so that more information can come forward, and the extent of the damage can be assessed.

Inside police sources have told China Press that authorities did not rule out the possibility of arresting Lee should he attend the dinner.

“The police are looking for Lee as he is the key person in the case. If he fails to turn up to help in our investigation, we may pick him up at the dinner event,” said the source.

For those of you wanting a front seat to the action, the JJPTR company dinner will be at Berjaya Times Square this Saturday, in celebration of their second-year anniversary. Each ticket for the vegetarian dinner costs RM400. Gotta make up for that lost revenue somehow.
