Police record statements from 11 people over death of Syed Alman

Police have recorded statements from 11 people over the death of Syed Alman Zain Syed Alwi at a private dental clinic in Bangsar last week.

According to Bernama, two dentists were among those who gave their statements.

“Besides the two dentists, police have also recorded statements from Health Ministry officials and staff of the clinic. So far, no individuals have been detained,” Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC Rusdi Mohd Isa told the news agency.

Syed Alman, 44, who was the son-in-law of Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, had reportedly gone to the clinic with a friend for an appointment at 6pm on June 1, but passed out while undergoing treatment.

He was rushed to the University Malaya Medical Centre where he died.

In a statement posted on Facebook last week, the clinic offered its condolences to Syed Alman’s family and said the surgery was performed ‘under sedation with the presence of a trained medical practitioner’.
