The police have recorded a statement from a Kedah assemblyman who allegedly assaulted a man and his girlfriend outside a shopping mall on 15 May.
Kota Setar police chief ACP Mohd Rozi Jidin told The Star Online that the politician admitted to being at the Aman Central shopping complex on the day of the incident.
However, in his statement, the assemblyman denied assaulting the man and his girlfriend, as claimed in a viral Facebook post.

“The incident was more of a misunderstanding between the two parties, and there may be elements of dissatisfaction. We will continue with the investigations,” Mohd Rozi told the website.
“We have taken statements from several witnesses, and will also take a statement from the girlfriend, who is currently in the capital city (Kuala Lumpur).”
In the 15 May incident, Alif Adam Mohd Munaim claimed that the politician and several men dragged him out of his car and beat him up. His girlfriend, who was trying to stop the fight, was also allegedly punched in her chest and arms.
The video of the incident has since gone viral on social media sites.
