Police officers, enforcement officials to be probed over migrants’ mass graves

The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) is carrying out investigations on its own officers and other enforcement agency officials over their possible involvement in human trafficking activities which led to the mass graves found on the Malaysian-Thai border.

Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said no one will be above the law, and vowed that all parties will be investigated.

On the subject of unearthing more mass graves along the Malaysian-Thai border, Khalid was of the opinion that the PDRM has found all there is to be found in the area.

“We don’t believe there are anymore graves as we have carried out screening and thorough combing of the area. We believe there are no more additional graves or tents,” he said today, as quoted by Astro Awani

He added that there is currently no new information on the number of bodies exhumed along the border.

“We don’t know, let us dig first. Yesterday, we managed to exhume another body. The rain is tempering our effort.

“We are in talks with the authorities in Thailand to access the location from Satun using our own vehicles. Moreover, the rain season is making it difficult for us to access the area,” he said.
