Police officer caught with RM10,000 in suspected bribes in his fanny pack

A police officer in Sibu, Sarawak was arrested while having almost RM10,000 – believed to have been bribes – stashed in his fanny pack.

The cop was one of nine PDRM officers detained by the Sarawak branch of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission as part of its ‘Ops Taring’ crackdown.

The MACC seized the money, believing it came from alleged corrupt practices on the part of the police officer.

“The policemen were arrested on suspicion of soliciting and accepting bribes from Indonesian workers,” the MACC said in a statement picked up by Bernama

“They are believed to target Indonesian workers suspected of not having valid documents and on their way back to their country by express buses via Tebedu Border post.”

No mention of whether they let the allegedly cop have his fanny pack back.
