The Royal Malaysian Police’s (PDRM) counter terrorism division continues to be on the hunt for Somalian terror suspects in the country, following the arrest of one of their number here last Thursday.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the manhunt is to ensure that Malaysia does not become a training ground for militant groups.
“Malaysia has never compromised whenit comes to militant activities. This (efforts to hunt terrorists) is done continuously,” Bernama quotes him as saying after visiting Kamunting Prison in Perak on Friday.
On Thursday, police arrested a 43-year old man suspected of having ties to the Somalian terror organization Al-Shabaab, active in Africa and the Middle East. The man entered Malaysia with a student visa and attended a private college here two years ago.
“We are hunting down several other individuals who are in hiding. Some of them are married to local women. They have not set up bases in this country but they share the ideology.”
