Police in Shah Alam handed out 155 summonses to errant motorcyclists over the course of a single traffic operation at the Batu 3 toll plaza yesterday morning.
Bukit Aman’s Highway Traffic (Central Zone 1) enforcement officer ASP Rahmat Abdul Manap told Sinar Harian that over the course of the Ops Roda crackdown, a total of 387 motorcyclists were flagged down and inspected, with 11 motorcycles impounded on the spot for a variety of infractions.
“Among the offences we detected were lapsed road taxes, riding a motorcycle without a valid license, missing side mirrors, and driving outside of the allocated motorcycle lane. All of the offences carried a fine of RM300, regardless of the severity of the violation,” he said.
Out of the 155 summonses issued in the operation, 19 were handed to motorcyclists who strayed out of the Federal Highway’s motorcycle lane, including bikers riding high-powered superbikes.
A 32-year old motorcyclist riding one such superbike was arrested during the operation on the additional suspicion of being an undocumented Indonesian national.
