Police have been roped in to look into the case of a tuition teacher in Malacca who allegedly caned a girl so badly that it left her badly bruised.
The Star Online quotes the child’s stepfather as saying that she had come home from class at the Malacca centre with marks on her hands and legs on April 12.
He said the teacher had told him that she was beaten for being ‘slow in learning’ and because she did not complete her homework.
“Although they had told us they were using that method to teach the children, I did not think they would beat her to that extent,” he was quoted as saying.
A police report was lodged and Malacca police chief Deputy Commissioner Ramli Din confirmed with the portal that police are investigating the incident.
