Police to investigate how rape suspect got blade

Police in Seremban are trying to find out how a rape suspect allegedly smuggled a blade inside his sling bag while being transported to a court complex for remand, The Star Online reported.

The 25-year-old suspect had reportedly used the blade to cut himself, resulting in life-threatening injuries, while he was inside a police vehicle.

Negri Sembilan police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Jaafar Mohd Yusuf told The Star that the suspect had lodged a report stating that he was unaware of how he got cuts on his neck and wrists.

“But we have ample evidence to show that he cut himself with the blade which he hid in a sling bag,” DCP Jaafar was quoted as saying.

He also said that 14 other suspects — transported from the Nilai station to the Seremban court in the same vehicle — had witnessed the man allegedly injuring himself.

The suspect was arrested for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl on April 13.
