Police inspector arrested over rape of crime suspect

The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) had no choice but to apprehend one of their own officers for allegedly raping a suspect in a theft case.

The officer, who is attached to the Brickfileds district police headquarters, was arrested at his office yesterday morning, said KL police chief SAC Tajuddin Md Isa.

“He is an investigating officer attached to the district. He joined the force last year,” he told The Star Online‘s Nadirah H Rodzi.

The inspector allegedly raped the suspect, a 19-year old woman, at about 6am on Wednesday, in his office.

Prior to the incident, the woman and her boyfriend were arrested by the inspector at a house at 3am, on suspicion of strealing from a supermarket.

While the boyfriend was kept in the lock-up overnight, the woman was believed to have been brought to the inspector’s office.

The woman was told to lie down on a couch in the inspector’s office. She claimed that while she slept, the inspector raped her. She was released from custody an hour after the incident.

A police report on the incident was lodged a few hours after her release.

The woman is currrantly under the protection of KL police’s D11 sexual crimes, domestic violence and child abuse investigations division.
