Police Hunting Down Man Who Tried To Torch Girlfriend And Baby

The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) are on a dragnet for a man who allegedly padlocked his girlfriend, along with her baby and mother, in their apartment in Desa Rejang, Setapak Jaya, Wangsa Maju, before setting the apartment on fire.

Sarliza Saidin, 29, her 18 month old baby, and Sarliza’s mother in her 50s, suffered 80 per cent, 50 per cent, and 10 per cent burns respectively.

City deputy CID chief Khairi Ahrasa said the PDRM considers the man to be the prime suspect in the case.

Khairi stated that initial investigations reveal the suspect set fire to the apartment as an act of revenge at 1am yesterday.

“The suspect used a padlock to secure the grille door from outside the unit before igniting it.”

“Initially, when we received the report, we thought the fire was caused by a gas explosion,” he said.
