Traffic police in Kajang foiled the attempted murder of a man on Saturday night, when a routine roadblock along Jalan Reko revealed a gang of thugs on the way to finish off the victim they had bundled up in the car. Dun dun dun.

They rescued the 23-year-old man, who had multiple stab wounds, and arrested the three others traveling in the car with him.

The Sun reports, that pulling up to the traffic stop at about 11:30pm, the driver of the vehicle rolled down the window and pushed cash at the police officer, so as to expedite his time at the checkpoint.

How much? I know you’re asking. RM200 (US$46).

The police officer turned down the bribe (woo!), and was immediately suspicious of the driver’s behavior. He and fellow officers then inspected the car thoroughly, only to find the victim clutching his bleeding, stabbed abdomen. He then told to police “I am going to die.”

The men were arrested, and the victim sent to hospital. Police found a machete in the car used to cut the man.

Police have learned that an hour before being stopped, the wounded man had gone to meet with an underworld group in Setapak to settle a dispute. It was then that he was attacked by nine other men, who beat and slashed him. He was then forced into the vehicle, and driven away to be killed and dumped in Kajang.

Police say that the motive behind the attack was “jealousy.” No idea what that means, but it’s been said that jealousy is an ugly thing.

The case has been handed over to Wangsa Maju police, and the victim is currently in stable condition in ICU.

Seems cats aren’t the only ones with 9 lives.
