Police finally nab Jalan Sambathan snatch thieves

The police have arrested two out of the three suspects who were captured on CCTV snatching a student’s handbag in Jalan Sambanthan two weeks ago.

City police chief Datuk Amar Singh told The New Straits Times that the two suspects, aged 20 and 21, admitted to committing the crime when questioned by the authorities.

In fact, they also reportedly owned up to at least six other snatch theft cases.

Amar further added that the police have also picked up two handphone sellers who worked together with the duo to buy stolen handphones and resell them.

The police have identified the third suspect, who’s still at large, and are in the midst of hunting him down.

On June 10, a 49-second video showing several men snatching a handbag belonging to a college student, who was waiting for a taxi near a church in the city, went viral on social media.
