Police reportedly questioned former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in Putrajaya today.
The Star Online reported that the 90-year-old was met by police at his office at the Perdana Leadership Foundation.
Lawyer Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla reportedly confirmed the news. “It’s still ongoing. My team are there in the session. I was having a trial so I am on my way there now,” Mohamed Haniff told The Star Online.
A report by the Malay Mail Online’s Kamles Kumar quoted an aide, who said the police had taken Dr Mahathir’s statement over a remark allegedly made at the recent Kuala Kangsar by-election.
“Remark on Idi Amin at Kuala Kangsar campaign,” the aide was quoted as saying.
According to the news portal, Dr Mahathir was believed to have likened Prime Minister Najib Razak to the late Ugandan dictator, Idi Amin Dada.
