Police detonate two homemade bombs found at KLCC

Update: The glass bottles thought to be explosives were instead something totally innocent — they were just science experiements by a primary school kid. Full story here.

A package containing two glass bottles believed to be improvised explosive devices was found this evening at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

According to Malay Mail Online, the package was found outside the Plenary Hall — where singer Richard Marx had been performing — located at the KLCC.

Malaysiakini meanwhile reports that police had found two homemade explosives there and successfully detonated them at 7.45pm.

Hang Tuah Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Fuad Omar was quoted as saying that the bombs were by the police bomb squad.

“The bombs were fashioned out of jars. There was no untoward incident,” he was quoted as saying.
