Police catches the D3VIL on the road

The D3VIL has finally been caught.

The last three months, a junior civil servant daringly drove around Kota Kinabalu with a fake car’s licence plate of ‘D3VIL’. On Thursday, his daring act came to an end after he was arrested by the police.

According to The Star Online, the 33-year-old man from Papar was detained in a special six hour operations along the Coastal Road in Asia City.

Kota Kinabalu City police chief Asst Comm M.Chandra told news portal that the man was arrested for fixing a fake licence plate, which is an offence under the Road Transport Act. It carries a maximum fine of RM5,000 or one year jail or both.

ASP Chandra also added that the man’s Perodua Viva vehicle did not have a valid road tax and he had reportedly been driving the vehicle from his home in Kinarut to his workplace in Likas for the past three months.

“We also detected another case last week where an owner had fixed `Selamat Hari Raya’ as the car plate and we have taken action. I urge motorist or car owners not to challenge the laws by doing such acts,’’ he was quoted as saying.
