Police made a significant drug bust yesterday morning after stopping a suspicious looking Perodua Myvi along one of the country’s main motorway arteries, the North-South Expressway at kilometer 137.
Eighty kilograms of marijuana, with an estimated worth of nearly RM200,000 (US$25,000), was discovered inside the vehicle, after Bertam Toll patrol officers noticed the driver behaving erratically while driving from the mainland towards the Penang Bridge at around 9:30am yesterday.
Asking him to pull over, they uncovered five boxes, containing 80 wrapped bundles of that they believe (let’s be real — probably is) to be marijuana. Three of the boxes were stacked along the rear passenger side, while two more were uncovered in the trunk. Police believe that the drugs were on their way to be sold on the island, and will keep the suspect in remand for the next week.
Adding that the suspect tested positive for opiates, he also had a record of previous drug offenses.
