Boy, this is totally unexpected.
The police have reportedly arrested the suspect in a molestation case involving a Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) student last week.
And it turns out that the alleged suspect is a lawyer.
Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Othman Nanyan told The Star Online that the 33-year-old suspect surrendered himself to the police on Friday after a video shot by the student, 20-year-old Cristal Chua, went viral online.
ACP Othman said the man was detained after Chua positively identified him as the suspect.
“He has been remanded until Sunday to assist in the investigations,” ACP Othman was quoted as saying.
Last Tuesday, Chua and her friend Tammy Ong, also 20, were reportedly walking back to Chua’s hostel at a nearby condominium in Sungai Long, Kajang when a man crept up behind them and allegedly “grabbed” Chua’s buttocks.
Ong also claimed that the man tried to grab her breasts, but he reportedly fled when she shouted for help.
As the suspect was running away, Chua whipped out her phone and recorded a video:
The brave students then took to Facebook to relate their ordeal in a live video, reminding everyone to take photographs or record videos of the culprit as evidence:
