The Cabinet is set to restructure following the resignation of Douglas Uggah Embas as Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister.
Prime Minister Najib Razak announced the impending reshuffle on his blog, NajibRazak.com, today.
“The Cabinet reshuffle to meet current needs and to fill the vacant posts will be announced soon, as a result of the death of Datuk Noriah Kasnon and taking into consideration the new appointment of Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah in Sarawak (as Deputy Chief Minister),” he wrote.
Douglas resigned to assume a new role as one of Sarawak’s three deputy chief ministers after winning the Bukit Saban seat during the state election on May 7.
Noriah was among six killed in a helicopter crash in Sarawak on May 5.
“Also in connection with this, I accept the resignation of Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas as Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister.”
The Cabinet last saw changes in July, when Ahmad Zahid Hamidi replaced Muhyiddin Yassin as Deputy Prime Minister.
