Proving yet again to be an ear to lend for the populists, progressives, and those with common sense, Prime Minister Mahathir has told media that not only will he be looking into child marriage laws, after news of yesterday’s latest case, but also reviewing the death sentence of a man who was found guilty of providing cannabis oil to ill patients.

Well, it’s a relief that someone has power to do something, amirite, Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Wan Azizah? Earlier quotes from the DPM, and Women’s Minister on the issue had left her proclaiming that she was unable to take action on child marriage, and the forty-something year old men marrying children, as it was “a state issue.”

Appearing earlier at the 22nd Conference of the Electric Power Supply Industry, the PM told Malay Mail reporters: “We will look into it.”

Yesterday’s news resulted in public outcry, after it was reveled that the impoverished parents of a 15-year-old girl gave permission for her to marry a 44-year-old father of two, and become his second wife.

Activists have welcomed the move, his words coming as a relief to many who wondered when the federal government would step in to regulate marriages between middle-aged men, and children.

Showing that he wasn’t done with his wokeness that afternoon, he also responded favorably to reviewing the case of the 29-year-old father who was sentenced to death late last month over supplying cannabis oil to sick patients.

“I think we should review that,” he said.

Speaking exclusively to Muhammad Lukman’s lawyer, Coconuts KL revealed that not only was the trial wrought with inconsistencies, but also that the effects of cannabis oil were not understood as therapeutic.

Prime Minister Mahathir: Ninety-three, and still proving how much more hands-on he is compared to some of his younger counterparts.
