PKR President, Port Dickson by-election candidate, Anwar Ibrahim posts jogging pic

With the battle for Port Dickson’s parliamentary seat only ten days away, Anwar Ibrahim has taken time out of his busy, anti-LGBTQ+ schedule, to have a jog on the beach while wearing chinos. Surprise, surprise, a paparazzo/aide was on hand to immortalize the moment and post it to Instagram.

While most of us might question the suffocating environment that a hat, chinos and golf shirt might create engaging in aerobic, outdoor activity in the equatorial tropics, in the midst of a monsoon season, Anwar appears to have not broken a sweat. Maybe it’s because he’s barefoot?

“Spent some time jogging around Teluk Kemang this morning,” he wrote in his post.

Jogging without shoes in Teluk Kemang is not advised, as per our own personal experience, but the sole-pounding jaunt along the beach has left the parliamentary candidate unfazed: “The air is fresh,” he reported.

Anwar’s sweat sesh has not gone unnoticed, with some social media users complimenting the sporty pic.

Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin, a former Youth and Sports Minister, also threw his own commentary in the ring, although we’re finding it hard to gauge the levels of shade he’s throwing: Positano beach umbrella, or passing cloud, KJ?

Politicians have long used sport and vitality to communicate gusto and action to voters: The ubiquity of a jogging United States President was almost taken for granted until current POTUS Donald Trump took office.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto were even captured jogging together, though both of their coifs look alarmingly perfect for cardio.

And who could forget former Prime Minister Najib Razak’s Facebook post capturing “arm day” at the gym? Not us!

While Anwar will need stamina while he contests with six other candidates for the parliamentary seat, observers predict that he will barely break a sweat in securing a win.
