Miri PKR leader shot dead in broad daylight

A PKR leader in Miri was shot dead in broad daylight by an unknown gunman on Tuesday morning, The New Straits Times‘ Goh Pei Pei reports.

According to the report, Miri PKR branch secretary Bill Kayong was shot by a killer using a shotgun while he was waiting in his Toyota Hilux at a busy traffic light junction in Jalan Baram.

He reportedly died on the spot.

Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Dev Kumar told the daily that the 43-year-old was heading to his office in Permajaya at 8.30am when the incident happened.

“We also urge the public to avoid speculating about the possible motives of the shooting.

“We will investigate this murder thoroughly. We will leave no stone unturned,” he was quoted as saying, adding that the case has been classified as murder.
