The Kota Baru Municipal Council has issued a summons to a pharmacy inside a Kota Baru hypermarket for displaying a poster showing a model who reportedly “exposed her aurat (modesty)”.
One of the pharmacy’s employees told The Star Online that on July 26, council enforcement officers issued a summons to the management for putting up the ‘inappropriate’ poster.
“I was told the manager had to pay RM150 for the offence.
“This is the first time that we were issued with the summons after the poster had been put up recently,” the employee was quoted by the news portal as saying.
This incident reportedly happened a day after a watch retailer was issued a summons by the Council for allegedly displaying two ‘sexy’ watch posters, including one of Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai.
The Kota Baru Municipal Council president Zamri Ismail told the news portal that they are very serious in getting traders to follow the strict state rules.
“I cannot understand why traders cannot comply with the conditions stipulated on their business and premise permits.
“We will continue to monitor the situation and will not compromise with those who flout these by-laws,” Zamir was quoted by The Star as saying.
