Perodua introduces energy-efficient Axia model, for RM24,900

Perodua will be launching what it is calling Malaysia’s first energy-efficient vehicle (EEV), the Axia, and booking for the new car starts tomorrow.

The Axia gets its name from Perodua’s bet that it will appeal to the larger Asian market, with an added X for the Roman numeral for 10 – marking this as Perodua’s 10th model released.

A Perodua statement reads: “We believe that the Perodua Axia is competitive in the region, which is why the word “Asia” was incorporated into the name; in addition, this vehicle also represents a whole new standard for us.”

The carmaker claims that the fuel-efficient Axia can get up to 21.6km per litre of fuel. The model will be able to fit four travel bags in its trunk, which has a 260-litre capacity.

The Axia will be priced at RM24,900 and up, across four available variants: Standard E, Standard G, Special Edition, and Advance. Perodua will also include a 5-year warranty for the Axia, a first for the manufacturer.

Bookings for the Axia begin tomorrow, with fees ranging from RM250 to RM300, depending on variant. Check www.perodua.com.my for more details.
