Politician and Persatuan Pribumi Perkasa Malaysia (Perkasa) vice-president Zukkifli Noordin has filed a police report on PKR veep Nurul Izzah Anwar over her statements in Parliament this past Tuesday.
Zulkifli said the speech delivered by Nurul Izzah, in which she questioned the decision of the Federal Court in upholding the sodomy conviction and subsequent prison sentence on her father, Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, was “highly coontemptuous”.
Bernama reports that Zulkifli, who had once run for office under the PKR banner, claimed Nurul Izzah’s remarks were not only a criticism on the integrity of Malaysia’s judiciary, but a seditious insult.
Despite the immunity afforded to members of Parliament under Article 63 (2) of the Federal Constitution, he asserts that Nurul Izzah was liable to legal action in this case.
His report asked Nurul Izzah to be investigated, including under the Sedition Act 1948.
