Son of Penang Chief Minister who is currently on trial accused of wearing luxury watch

The heat on beleaguered Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, currently on trial accused of grafting, has transferred to his son, who has been forced to publicly deny owning an RM350,000 (US$90,000) wrist watch.

Fancy

Over the weekend, a short video began to circulate on social media, purporting to show Clint Lim Way Chau wearing a rather dashing Richard Mille titanium watch.

Clint has now categorically stated: “No, I don’t own that watch,” adding that he wishes he did. He clarified that he was wearing a T-Race model Tissot watch. The only similarity between the two is the bright red wristband they both share.

The watch currently retails for about RM1,800, which sounds like a reasonable enough splurge for the 25-year-old Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology accounting student.

An online keyboard warrior initially believed that they had spotted the more expensive watch in a photo of Clint attending the first day of his father’s trial. Though excitable and accessory-loving, the amateur fashion authority proved to be ultimately lacking in both knowledge, and detail.

How Patek-tic. HA! Luxury watch humor. Excuse us while we check the time on our Casio.
