PDRM shuts down gang’s 50-odd robbery spree

The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has effectively ended one gang’s free reign against the law, during which it is believed to have carried out about 50 robberies since 2009.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief DCP Mohd Adnan Abdullah told the New Straits Times Online‘s C Premananthini that the five gang members – four Indonesians, and a local – were arrested on January 12 and 14 at different locations in Bandar Tasik Selatan, Persiaran Desa Serdang and the Stulang Laut Jetty Terminal in Johor Bahru.

The arrests were part of a Selangor/Kajang PDRM operation called Ops Rantau.

When apprehending the suspects, raiding police officers discovered machetes, face masks, and gloves in the homes where the gang members were hiding.

Also confiscated were 49 articles of jewellery, 79 wristwatches, and cash in various currencies.

January 12 saw the gang pull off its last robbery, during which they made off with over RM100,000 in loot from a luxury residence in Country Heights, Kajang.
