The Malaysian Indian Congress’s (MIC) central working committee is prepared to abide by and move forward with the directive issued by the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to solve the Barisan Nasional’s Indian component party’s current crisis.
MIC deputy president S Subramaniam told The Star Online‘s Hemananthani Sivandam that for as long as there is a quorum for the CWC meeting, the committee would be allowed to convene and would be empowered to make decisions.
“We will move through with what was conveyed to us by the RoS, to take the party forward,” said Subramaniam at a press conference today, when asked if the CWC would convene even in the absence of party president G Palanivel.
He also dismissed Palanivel’s decision to take the RoS to court as a “waste of time” that will only serve to further destabilise the MIC, and ultimately affect the BN.
Subramaniam asserted that the current impasse within the MIC should be resolved as soon as possible, so that the party could move forward and focus on assisting the Barisan Nasional coalition in the run-up to the next general elections.
