A part-time model who drove against traffic in March earlier this year, killing another driver, had her charges read to her in court yesterday. The 19-year-old saw driving under the influence removed from her list of crimes, after her drugs test came back negative.

Glad we cleared that up. Her new charge, read to her in Mandarin, is now reckless driving.

According to The Star, Ng Pei Ven plead not guilty to the crime that carries a minimum two-year sentence and RM5,000 (US$1,200) fine. She did not have a lawyer present.

The teen appeared in court wearing a surgical mask (no word on if she’s actually sick), and black cap. Nothing says “not guilty” like dressing yourself like an off-duty Hong Kong celeb.

The March 14 incident saw Ng drive 5km against traffic, after doing a U-turn at kilometer 128 of the North South Expressway. She claims that she did this after seeing a stalled truck. This part of her story has not been corroborated.

Her abrupt turn, and subsequent driving against dozens of high-speed cars, saw her graze several vehicles. She continued driving against traffic until kilometer 134, where she crashed into a Perodua Kelisa being driven by 26-year-old Mohamad Fandi Rosli. He died instantly.

Police initially believed Ng to be high on meth. Additional CCTV placed her at the scene of another accident earlier at a toll booth, where she rear-ended two other vehicles. Unable to blame drugs for any of this tragedy, looks like she’s maybe just a really, really reckless driver.
