Police have launched a search for a man who has been accused of sexually assaulting two minors.
The man had allegedly committed the offense on the brothers, aged 8 and 9, in an apartment in Petaling Jaya, Selangor on Monday morning. Police released a sketch of the accused today, after the boys’ mother filed a police report.
“The suspect committed extreme obscenity towards the victim before the frightened children ran home crying,” District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said.
The unnamed suspect, said to be 168cm tall and with a thin frame, was being investigated for committing sexual offenses against children. A sketch was made with the help of the victims, who identified the suspect’s face, Fakhrudin said.
The minors were going up the stairs to try and sell kuih (cakes) when the man in his 20s approached them and pulled their arms, police said. The boys later ran home crying to their 40-year-old mother.
If convicted, the man could be jailed for up to 20 years and caned.
“Police are seeking the cooperation of members of the public who know the suspect or know about the incident to come forward to assist the police or contact the investigating officer Inspector M Naresh Kumar at 016-975 7113,” Fakhrudin said.
