PAC member wants 1MDB’s Kanda and Shahrol to prove they were away on business trips

Nope. No goodwill to be had at all.

Tony Pua, Petaling Jaya Utara MP and a member of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is demanding that 1MDB CEO Arul Kanda Kandasamy and his predecessor Shahrol Ibrahim Halmi divulge the details of their movements during the time they were supposed to have appeared before the committee.

Pua said he wants to know where the two went, whether or not their flight tickets were booked before or after the PAC’s summons for them to testify was given, and the dates of the meetings they had allegedly attended overseas.

“I want 1MDB president Arul Kanda and the former CEO to tell us, if they are not twisting and turning, where were they on the 25th and 26th of May when PAC asked them to attend and what meeting were they having overseas such that they could not attend the PAC.

“These are questions that we will ask again when they come to see PAC on the date that will be fixed by the PAC chairman,” he said outside of Parliament today, as quoted by The Malay Mail‘s Melissa Chi.

Both Kandasamy and Shahrol claimed they could not attend their PAC hearings because they had prior business engagements overseas.

The PAC initiated its hearings into 1MDB’s scandalised operations on May 19, and is scheduled to present its findings to the public next month.
