A boutique hotel in Kuala Lumpur has owned up to a recent incident of overbooked rooms, which left more than 20 customers stranded recently.
According to a report by The New Straits Times‘ Beatrice Nita Jay, a spokesperson for the boutique hotel confirmed that the technical glitch was from the hotel’s side, and not from popular booking website Booking.com.
“We apologise for the statement given earlier and would like to confirm that the overbooking situation was caused by a technical glitch from the hotel system.
“Booking.com had nothing to do with the glitch. It was the hotel’s mistake which caused the problem.
“All errors related to this situation is regretted. We apologise for the inconvenience caused due to the glitch,” the spokesperson was quoted as saying.
In an earlier statement, the hotel claimed that the chaos was caused by a system glitch in Booking.com.
After a thorough investigation, however, the booking site stated that it was “100 per cent certain” that there was no glitch in its own system.
Last week, more than 20 guests were left stranded and forced to wait at the hotel’s lobby as there were no rooms available.
