Out of the blue, BN party leaders converge to express their support for PM Najib

The leaders of the Barisan Nasional’s twelve other component parties suddenly gathered for a press conference to express their “full and undivided support” for Prime Minister Najib Razak yesterday evening.

The press conference, led by MCA president and Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai, was meant solely to express the party leaders’ support for the PM, and no explanation was given as to why this was necessary.

“We, all the component party presidents of Barisan Nasional, would like to declare our full and undivided support to our prime minister and chairman of Barisan Nasional Datuk Seri Najib Razak for his leadership and we will be standing all the way behind him to lead Barisan Nasional to ensure the transformation of country continues and we are confident that the national transformation will achieve its target before the year 2020,” Liow said at the press conference in Parliament, as quoted by The Malay Mail Online‘s Melissa Chi.

Adenan Satem, Chief Minister of Sarawak and president of Parti Persaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), also chimed in, dispelling – without any prompting – “speculation” that support for the UMNO and BN president was wavering.

“This is a unanimous decision. There is no dissenting voice and that includes all component parties of Barisan Nasional in Sabah and Sarawak, and the peninsula,” he said.

Liow reiterated the group’s stand and called for the BN coalition to be “united and to be strong to face all these challenging years”.

“We stand together as one in Barisan Nasional to support our prime minister.”

Earlier this month, the heads of UMNO divisions nationwide gathered at the party’s headquarters in the Putra World Trade Center to have a meeting with Najib, then emerged to also express their full and unwavering support for their party president and PM.

Looks like Najib needs all the support he can possibly get.
