The company on Monday presented RM1.5 million in rewards to the Paralympic medalists in a special event officiated by Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin at the Naza Tower, The New Straits Times reports.
Ridzuan Mohamad Puzi, Ziyad Zolkefli and Abdul Latif Romly — who won gold medals at the 2016 Paralympic Games — each received a residential suite at Trion 888 (worth RM350,000) and a brand new Kia Sportage (worth RM121,888).
Bronze medalist Siti Noor Radiah Ismail, meanwhile, received a Kia Rio sedan worth RM72,888.
Naza Corporation Holdings chief executive officer SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, who is also the president of the Malaysian Paralympic Council, told the daily that the Paralympians deserved the rewards as they have made the country proud.
“This is our best ever performance at the Paralympics. I was there in Rio when Negaraku was played and it was definitely special and also emotional moment for our country,” he was quoted as saying.
