OSA charge for those who share leaked exam papers

Those who share public exam papers can be charged under the Official Secrets Act (OSA).

This is the warning from an independent committee formed by the education ministry to review its handling of public exams after a series of leaks in the recent Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examinations.

TheSundaily reports that the committee chairman, former chief justice Tun Zaki Tun Daim said not many were aware that merely sharing leaked papers was an offence.

“It does not matter where you got it from. Everytime you re-publish the paper, you are committing an offence. Though it is easy to circulate articles and documents through social media, it is a serious offence,” he told reporters after chairing the nine members committee at the Malaysia Examination Syndicate here.

“That is a warning. Don’t think that it is funny,” he was quoted as saying.

The committee, he said, is scheduled to submit a full report about the recent UPSR leaks in three months. In the meantime, they will meet twice a week at the ministry.
