Police are mourning the death of a fellow officer who died in the early hours of this morning after a car allegedly lost control along Jalan Semantan, and crashed into a trio of officers from the Motorcycle Patrol Unit (MPU).

Twenty-six-year-old Constable Mohd Zamri Sinsian was pronounced dead at the scene, while his 23-year-old fellow constable, Osman Ibrahim, suffered head injuries and is currently in hospital being treated for internal bleeding. A third officer, Corporal Mohd Samsul, managed to escape the accident unharmed.

All three were attached to the nearby Travers Police Station.

Investigators report that they had pulled over a vehicle at approximately 3:50am and were conducting checks when a second car appeared on the scene, plowing into them from behind. It is believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle and swerved into the officers.

Police have since detained the 44-year-old driver of the vehicle, and will be conducting an alcohol test.
