The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has started to hunt down the participants of the “Malaysia Nudist Sports Games”, the video for which went viral earlier this week, and have arrested one woman while publishing the photos of 15 others.
One of the main participants identified from the video appears to be Che Tok Hwa, a retired English teacher and a former Gerakan Wanita chief from Sungai Petani, Kedah.
The other main person connected to the event was Albert Yam, who created the online video and had told The Malay Mail Online via Facebook message that the event had nothing to do with sexual promiscuity and was only meant to promote a healthy lifestyle. Lam is an unemployed Malaysian with Singaporean citizenship.
“We have yet to locate them,” Lai said.
Southwest district police chief Superintendent Lai Fah Hin also announced that a woman, identified only as a 34-year old private music teacher named “Ellen”, was arrested at her home in Bayan Lepas last night.
“We appeal to the rest of the group to come forward to assist investigations. Please go to the nearest police station,” he said at the district police headquarters in Balik Pulau today, as reported by The Malaysian Insider.
Lai said the 15 participants were in their 20s to 50s.
The others are identified as Kok Hong, a director from Singapore; Singaporeans Terry and Lionel Lau; Malaysians Carmen Chan, Thomas Kong, Janice, Justin Ang, and Michael; Burmese Newman and his unnamed girlfriend; Indian national James Kumar and Filipino Marvin Cuevas.
Lai said the group committed an offence at the national park near Teluk Bahang. “It is no place for people to strip and bare it all,” he said.
The incident is being investigated under Section 294a and 509 of the Penal Code.
Section 509 states that a person found guilty of using a word or gesture intended to insult the modesty of another can be jailed for up to five years, fined, or both.
Police have also appealed to those with information of the individuals to contact investigation officer Assistant Superintendent Mohd Sani Mat Ali on 012-5424455.
