Having made a name for itself in its home country Australia and successfully creating buzz in New York City, the Pie Face chain of eateries will be setting up shop in Malaysia and Singapore soon.
Brought in by local partner VL Development Sdn Bhd, the chain specialising in quirky gourmet pies, pastries, sandwiches and coffee plans to open up at least 50 new outlets in Malaysia and Singapore over the next five years.
The Rakyat Post reports VL Development head SH Goh saying, “They have a unique brand and an exceptional product that we believe will be well received by our markets in Singapore and Malaysia.”
Pie Face – known for their meat pies with cute faces scrawled on them – currently operates 89 outlets, mainly in Australia, with four more stores in New Zealand, and eight outlets in New York City. Four more outlets are set to open in Dubai and Abu Dhabi by the end of the year, with another 100 stores set to open in the Middle East in a seven-year partnership with the Landmark Group’s Foodmark division.
We’re anxious to try out their signature Chunky Steak Pie, “filled with chunks of 100% aussie beef that has been braised with onions, garlic and gravy, encased in a golden puff pastry”. Yum.
