Several bungalows along Jalan Ampang will be developed into office lots, the Malaysian Rubber Board said.
According to a report in the New Straits Times, the board owns the land and will redevelop them – reportedly built as early as the 19th century – into office spaces.
Board director-general Dr Salmiah Ahmad, responding to a letter to the NST asking for the preservation of these bungalows, told the NST that they would decide what to do with these properties.
The reader, identified as G.I, wrote to the daily about a unique bungalow with a garden that had been occupied by the Spanish Embassy until 2012.
“The land will be used to build office buildings and villas and the process is already in progress,” the daily quoted Dr Salmiah as saying.
