It’s often said that Twitter messes up the English language, but not quite as directly as this: satellite TV network Astro has had to apologise for a profane tweet which aired on the rolling ticker accompanying one of the episodes of its Oh My English! educational sitcom last Sunday on Astro TVIQ.
Here’s the offending tweet, as screencapped by Oh! Media:

It seems the offending tweet, more a storm of random expletives than an actual sentence, only made it onto the Oh My English! ticker roll because of the accompanying hashtag, but Astro had its hat in hand anyway when they apologised on Oh! Media‘s Facebook page:
“We’d like to sincerely apologise over the unintended incident caused by our negligence, and action has been taken to ensure this doesn’t happen again.”
You’d think, given the nature of the show, whoever put out that tweet would at least have smeared out TV screens with English swear words.
