If you want to become a successful entrepreneur like Tony Fernandes, that advertisement you see on Facebook is not the way to go.
That is because the AirAsia boss has denied endorsing any get-rich-quick scheme on the social media page.
The 52-year-old told The Star Online that the ads that have been showing up on Facebook news feeds the past couple of days are completely fake and that he had nothing to do with them.
The ads claimed that Tony had revealed his secret to making as much as USD300 (RM1240) per day from home.
AirAsia said in a statement cited by the news portal that Tony had not endorsed the ads and they urge the public against sharing them.
“We refer to sponsored advertisements on Facebook linking to articles claiming to quote AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes, e.g. “They will eat me alive for this!”, “They’ll take my head, every Malaysian needs to watch this”, “They want my head for revealing this secret’.
“We urge the public to ignore them and to refrain from sharing the articles in question,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, The New Straits Times reported that the clicking on one of the ads will link Facebook users to a binary options trading scam page.
According to the daily, the scammers would allegedly contact the victims using an international number and urge them to make a monetary deposit on the pretext of opening a trading account which will help them earn money in a blink of an eye.
Of course, the scammers will eventually find a way to run off with the money, leaving their victims with nothing.
