Police have busted 19 durian sellers in Negri Sembilan for short-changing consumers with tampered scales and measuring equipment. In total, RM5,200 in fines were meted out.
Dubbed “Ops Duri” by the Negri Sembilan Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry, authorities swooped down on the traders on Monday.
Forty-six traders were inspected, and officials verified and then re-verified that all of the sellers’ equipment was in order. No goods were seized, and officials have warned rogue traders that their investigations will be continuing throughout durian season.
In the prophetic words of Wu-Tang member Ghostface Killah: “All around the world today, a kilo is a measure. A kilo is a thousand grams, easy to remember.” Got it, durian sellers?
