It was a night this young couple would definitely like to forget.
A couple endured a night of terror after they were chased down the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) by a group of mat rempit, who also allegedly smashed their car’s window.
One of the victims, identified only as San San, took to her Facebook page to relay the horrifying ordeal.
According to The News Straits Times, the incident reportedly happened at around 2.15am on Monday when the couple, believed to have lost their way, stopped their Perodua Myvi at the Kelana Jaya lake car park to enter some coordinates into the Waze app.
While they were doing so, eight men on four motorcycles suddenly appeared and surrounded their vehicle. One of the bikers then allegedly tap on their window and ordered them to step out of the vehicle.
Sensing something was amiss, the couple decided to stay in the car.
When San San’s boyfriend reversed his car in an attempt to get away from the bikers, they turned aggresive and allegedly started hitting their vehicle.
Panicked, her boyfriend reportedly floored the accelerator and crashed into one of the bikes.
The enraged bikers and the couple then reportedly engaged in a high-speed chase along the LDP heading towards Kepong.
“Throughout the chase, the men kept yelling at us and ordered us to stop. One threw rocks at our car.
“One of the men flung a sparkplug, which smashed the passenger window,” San San was quoted as saying.
During the chase, San San managed to call the police, who urged her to make her way to the nearest police station.
However, one of the Myvi’s wheels were running on its rim after sustaining a flat tyre from ramming into one of the bikes, so, unable to make any more precise turns, the couple decided to speed ahead.
Thankfully for the couple, the bikers eventually gave up pursuit as they were approaching the Kepong toll plaza.
“We were so afraid that they would come after us but they were nowhere to be found. We eventually pulled up by the side of the road.
“The police came by after about 10 minutes. They decided that we were alright and told us to call a tow truck,” San San was quoted as saying.
The couple reportedly lodged a report the next day at the Bandar Sunway police station.
San San’s Facebook post has since gone viral, having been shared more than 27,000 times.
