Most of us have numbed ourselves to the litany of ignorant, offensive, casually racist and callously insensitive statements made by some (if not most) of our elected officials and public servants. Too many newspapers will confuse the rakyat. Non-Malays are more accepting of statutry rape and sexual violation. The Malaysian internet should be censored, so China won’t get mad. And those are just quotes from this year.
A new website seeks to take (some) of the sting off of those words, and to allow us to laugh at ourselves (for voting for these guys) … and to remember these powerful, momentous quotes for all time. BalikCina.com – named after one of the last year’s biggest contenders for the “what the hell did he just say?!” award, is collecting choice quotes from politicians of all stripes and affiliations, with one thing in common: chronic foot in mouth disease. Enjoy.
