New Sepang F1 post-race concert headliner announced

If it’s not Lenny Kravitz, it’s got to be Girls’ Generation.

Sepang International Circuit (SIC) has announced that the sensational K-Pop group will replace Kravitz as a headliner of the 2015 Formula 1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix post-race concert.

Kravitz had recently cancelled his Sepang appearance, citing ‘unforeseen scheduling issues’ and cancelled his Asia tour.

In a statement on its website, SIC said the concert — held at the Helipad in the Sepang Circuit — will be brought forward to an earlier time slot; gates will now open at 4.30pm, with the main act set to perform at 5.30pm. The concert is expected to wrap up at 8pm.

“Indeed, we are still working on securing another world-class performer for the concert, but we just had to share the good news on Girls’ Generation as soon as possible. Having this hugely popular group performing right here in Sepang makes the post-race concert a very special occasion, so we hope their fans will take the opportunity to see them, from only RM80 onwards, besides also watching the Malaysian F1 Grand Prix,” SIC CEO Datuk Razlan Razali said in a statement.

The eight-member girl group was formed in 2007 and has gone on to become on the most successful acts to come out of South Korea, particularly with the success of the 2009 song ‘Gee’.

Ticket prices begin from RM80 – with tickets ranging from RM340 to RM1,770 for seats in the Main Grandstand, RM440 for the Tower, RM280 to RM660 for Grandstands F and K1 and RM80 to RM160 for Hillstand tickets.
